The Petrified Forest and Meteor Crater
When I was working in Arizona my father and I made a long weekend trip to the the Grand Canyon, Meteor crater and the Petrified forest.

In between Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest was Meteor Crater. The crater was created 50,000 years ago and is about 4000 ft in diamter and 600 ft deep. I thought the admission was a little expensive but It was neat to see a metor crater.

After the crater we went to the Petrified Forest. The northern part of the park is located within the painted desert. There are a few small hikes you can do within the park to see petrified logs. It was amazing at the volume and size of petrified trees. Every where you look there were logs laying around.

Also in the galley are a few pictures driving through Arizona and some lightning pictures during the monsoon season.
